Our Story

Feminism without the rest isn't feminism.

Salt + Violet exists in direct opposition to white feminism — the kind that reads the books, posts the squares, holds all the right beliefs, and never has to be uncomfortable about any of it. The kind where your politics live quietly inside a life that whiteness made frictionless.

We're not here to educate. If you're reading this, you already know. You know feminism without anti-racism isn't feminism. You know the work of resistance has been carried by the communities most harmed by the systems in question — queer people, people of color, immigrants, anyone at the sharp end.

What we're here for is the next part. The part where knowing becomes doing. Where your beliefs stop being comfortable and start being visible.

Every design in our collection is rooted in something real — queer history, feminist protest, coded symbols that mean something to the people who built these movements. We honor where it comes from. And we direct the call to action at the women who need to carry it forward.

A shirt like ours — with these words, on your body, in public — starts conversations you can't control. That's the first ask. What you do after is up to you. We're going to keep asking.

Queer, woman-owned. Always has been. The work starts here.

What this means.

Anti-white-feminism.

Not anti-white-women. Anti the version of feminism that centers white women's comfort and calls it progress. You can't have feminism without anti-racist work, without queer liberation, without the full scope.

The communities did the work.

Every design references real struggles built by real communities. We don't speak for them. We speak from respect for their labor and direct the energy where it needs to go.

The shirt is the starting line.

Buying it isn't the action. Wearing it in public — where it starts conversations you can't control — is closer. But the real work happens after. We're going to keep asking what comes next.

Send one forward.

Buy a shirt. We send one to a friend. On us. Because spreading the message matters more than the margin. The shirt arrives from you, not from a brand. It's personal.
